The Game Changer When It Comes To Making Music As A Family

Chord Dice

First I have to make a full disclosure.  I usually play my guitar by myself away from my family.  It's an easy way to unwind and it's cheaper than therapy, but...

This image took me back to when my dad would let me strum the strings while he formed the chords.  The memory is kinda fuzzy, and if I were to ruminate too long...

It would probably turn into a whopper of a fish story...

But this image captures the kind of memories I want to give my family and yours.  Fun memories that can be passed along and never forgotten...

And this is why I'm sharing this blog post...

It only takes an ounce of effort to plan out an interactive jam session so you can make music as a family.  Here's a quick start guide to get you headed in the right direction...

The Family First Jam Session Quick Start Guide

  • 1 It all starts from a place of love and making some fun memories, so research the songs your family loves...
  • 2 Do a search for each song's chord progression and write it down on a separate sheet of notebook paper with the title at the top...
  • 3 You've pretty much done the heavy lifting at this point, so practice the chord changes a couple times...
  • 4 Now enlist the help of one person in secret, and hand them the pick while you form the chords of their favorite song...
  • 5 When you're practiced up, call in the rest of your family for a little surprise performance...

We hope this gives you a great place to start making music as a family.  Once their interest has been piqued, let them roll a set of Chord Dice and create your own family song...
